Daft Punk turned down GTA 6 comeback offer, leaker claims
A Daft Punk-focused leaker claims Rockstar pitched the duo a final comeback for GTA 6 with a near-unlimited budget, and that Justice were the second choice.
Rumour. An unverified leak or claim. Treat it with caution until Rockstar speaks.

Rockstar Games wanted Daft Punk to come out of retirement for Grand Theft Auto 6, according to a claim posted on X on October 19 by Has it Leaked, an account that has covered Daft Punk news for several years. The account says the duo's management (which, it notes, still exists) was pitched "a final comeback" for the GTA 6 soundtrack with "essentially an unlimited budget". It adds that Justice, the French duo who ended up on the project, were Rockstar's second choice. Dexerto picked up the claim and framed it as Daft Punk turning the offer down.
None of this is confirmed. Rockstar has not addressed it, Daft Punk's camp has not either, and the account has offered no documents or other evidence to back up the post. Treat it as an unverified insider claim for now.
Justice got the gig instead
Whatever happened behind the scenes, the end result is public. Justice are all over GTA 6's marketing: their new single Flower in a Hurricane drives the GTA 6 launch trailer, and more of the duo's work is part of the game's score. Rockstar is also putting out the GTA 6 Original Score by Justice on CD and vinyl on December 11.
The claimed pecking order fits, at least on paper. Justice and Daft Punk both came out of the Paris electronic scene and both sit under the French touch umbrella, so if Rockstar wanted that sound and the bigger name said no, Justice would be an obvious next call. That's an observation about the music, not proof that the story is true.
Why a Daft Punk return would have been huge
Daft Punk announced their split in 2021, and they have stayed quiet since, apart from anniversary reissues of their albums. Their biggest appearance since the breakup was in games: Fortnite ran a Daft Punk Experience in 2025, with skins, cosmetics, in-game activities and an interactive event.
A "final comeback" built around the year's most anticipated game would have been a much bigger moment than a Fortnite crossover. The claimed size of the offer would also fit how much Rockstar is spending on GTA 6's music. Dexerto lists Bad Bunny, Tate McRae and Lana Del Rey among the artists involved.
What we still don't know
The original post says Daft Punk's management was pitched and that Justice were the second choice. It doesn't say in so many words why the duo said no, or when the talks happened. It's also possible that existing Daft Punk tracks turn up on the in-game radio, since a licensed song is a very different deal from new music or a comeback. Rockstar has not published the full tracklist, so that question stays open until it does. Our GTA 6 radio stations rundown covers what Rockstar has confirmed about the stations so far.
GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. After that, players can check the radio for themselves, even if the full story behind the Daft Punk pitch never comes out.
