GTA 5 and San Andreas actors share advice for the GTA 6 cast

Ned Luke, Shawn Fonteno and Young Maylay told All Out Gaming what GTA 6's unnamed Jason and Lucia actors should expect: have fun, trust Rockstar, get ready.

Reported. Established outlets report this. Rockstar hasn't said so.

Three past Grand Theft Auto lead actors have offered some advice to whoever is playing Jason and Lucia, and it boils down to this: have fun, trust Rockstar, brace yourself and mean it when you thank the fans. Ned Luke, Shawn Fonteno and Steven Ogg (Michael, Franklin and Trevor in GTA 5) sat down with All Out Gaming at MCM Comic Con alongside Young Maylay, the voice of Carl "CJ" Johnson in San Andreas. GamesRadar+ and Dexerto reported the interview on October 28.

Trust the studio and get ready

Fonteno kept his advice practical. "To be honest, just listen to what Rockstar say," he told All Out Gaming, according to Dexerto, adding that the studio is "going to lead you in the right direction." He also warned the newcomers to be prepared, describing GTA 6 as "a ride they're going to be on for a while."

Luke's message was about the audience. Dexerto quotes him urging the next leads to "appreciate the fans" and to do it sincerely, because "fake appreciation is smelt. They can smell it." He went further, saying that without the fans "you have nothing." Coming from someone who has spent more than a decade at conventions as Michael De Santa, that sounds like advice he learned the hard way.

One small discrepancy: GamesRadar+, Dexerto and Brazilian outlet Critical Hits credit Luke with the line "have fun," while IGN Brasil attributes it to Maylay.

CJ on growing old with your fans

Maylay, who is Fonteno's cousin, had the longest view of the group. Like Fonteno, he told the next leads to "get ready," then reminded his GTA 5 co-stars that "my game was 20 years ago," so they will be in his position once GTA 6 arrives. He said the people lining up to meet him now are "the OG's", including fans with grey hair who still greet him as CJ. His takeaway: "you're going to grow with your fanbase."

He also pushed back on the idea that a new game wipes out the old guard. According to GamesRadar+, Maylay pointed out that he wasn't "shut down" when GTA 5's trio arrived, and the same will be true for them once Jason and Lucia take over. IGN Brasil reports he added that the actors will always be the characters they played.

What about Trevor?

Ogg was part of the group, but none of the reports quote him giving advice. IGN Brasil recalls his 2025 comments, when he said he felt "nothing" about GTA 6 because he isn't a gamer, and suggested that Trevor could be killed off early in the new game as a way of passing the torch. Rockstar has never indicated whether any GTA 5 characters appear in GTA 6. Our returning characters breakdown covers what's actually known.

The GTA 5 cast has been in a farewell mood lately. Dexerto notes that Luke has been streaming a "Final Mission" playthrough of GTA 5 on YouTube, joined at times by Ogg and Fonteno.

Who plays Jason and Lucia?

That part is still officially unknown. Rockstar has not named the actors behind GTA 6's two protagonists. Fans widely believe Lucia is played by Manni L. Perez, pointing to her voice and her resemblance to the character, but that remains unconfirmed. Dexerto notes that Perez previously appeared in GTA Online as a Diamond Casino blackjack dealer and has two voice credits in that game. She has stayed quiet about the speculation. The answer probably isn't far off. GTA 6 is set to launch on November 19 (here's the full release date timeline if you've lost track of the delays). Whoever plays Jason and Lucia, they'll soon find out what Luke, Fonteno, Ogg and Maylay meant by "get ready."
