GTA 6 leaker CyberLeek returns with 25 minutes of footage

CyberLeek resurfaced on October 8 with about 25 minutes of alleged GTA 6 footage showing nudity, dirt biking and first-person views. Here's what we know.

Reported. Established outlets report this. Rockstar hasn't said so.

The anonymous leaker known as CyberLeek resurfaced on October 8 with roughly 25 minutes of alleged Grand Theft Auto 6 footage. The release broke weeks of silence, about six weeks before the game's November 19 launch. According to Dexerto, the footage came in a file of more than 370MB that the leaker titled "Extended Leek." Eurogamer said it had watched the video and that it "appears to be legitimate," with CyberLeek's usual emblem laid over the footage. No outlet has independently confirmed where the footage came from, and Rockstar Games had not commented on this leak when those reports went up.

What the footage reportedly shows

Eurogamer says most of the video takes place at the Thrillbilly Mud Club, where Jason and Lucia get ready for an off-road dirt bike tournament. They buy new clothes, look around a garage and pick a bike to rent. Dexerto also quoted fan account Saukko505, who said the footage includes mission cutscenes, racing in Vice City and vehicle modification.

The nudity got most of the attention. Eurogamer and Dexerto both report that Jason is completely naked for a long stretch of the footage (more than 10 minutes, by Eurogamer's count). That includes riding around and cutscenes, which play out as normal. Near the end, the player switches to Lucia. She is topless and wearing only bikini bottoms as she prepares for a nighttime base jump that Eurogamer says looks like one from the Netflix reveal.

There is a big caveat before anyone calls that a feature. Eurogamer noted that the player seems to have access to a developer menu and at one point spawns a tank out of nowhere. That means the nudity could be a debug option rather than something in the retail game. Eurogamer's writer still expects nudity to be possible. They point to the series' history, the game's adult rating and a ratings board's mention of sex scenes. Dexerto adds that the footage probably comes from an unfinished version of the game, so things could change before release.

A first-person camera, in this build at least

Dexerto also reports that the leak shows first-person driving from inside vehicles, plus Jason walking around on foot in first person. That doesn't match what Rockstar has said. According to Dexerto, Rockstar North's Rob Nelson explained in an August preview that GTA 6 won't ship with a full first-person mode, and that first person will be limited to aiming certain weapons. A camera option in a work-in-progress build could just be an experiment that never ships, so don't count on it at launch.

How we got here

CyberLeek first appeared on August 18 with clips of Jason playing basketball, driving and fighting. Over the next few days came footage from the nine1nine nightclub and a Vice City police chase, then on August 24 footage of an apparent nudist community. The leaker says the leaks are a protest against digital-only games, preorders and monetization. CyberLeek also promoted a cryptocurrency, which Dexerto says raised questions about the leaker's real motives.

Rockstar called the earlier leaks "heartbreaking" and said "this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time." Take-Two has subpoenaed several platforms to try to identify the leaker, including Discord according to Eurogamer.

Eurogamer reports that the October 8 video drops the crypto pitch. Instead, it ends by asking for money and teasing "an expensive project" that "needs a lot of hardware." CyberLeek has since threatened to release a full playable build.

What it means for players

As Dexerto points out, Rockstar has confirmed that clothing matters more in GTA 6: NPCs and police can recognize Jason and Lucia by their outfits, including through security cameras. The leak doesn't show whether walking around naked changes how the world reacts, and in this build the cutscenes didn't seem to notice. Spoilers will likely keep spreading until GTA 6 launches on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so if you want to go in fresh, mute your keywords now.
